Using a large mixing bowl you will add the biscuit baking mix, milk and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well to combine. Beat for about 30 seconds while forming a soft ball of dough.

Drop balls of dough onto an un-greased baking sheet or cookie sheet. Place in the preheated oven to bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

What You Need

1 cup flour
2 Tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup buttermilk
How to Make It

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Melt the shortening in a large heavy skillet and set aside until needed.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the vegetable shortening while using a fork to combine the mixture until it is crumbly in texture.

While mixing with the fork you will stir in the buttermilk. Knead the dough lightly and then turn out onto a floured surface. Roll dough out to about ½ inch thickness.

Cut out the biscuits while using a biscuit cutter or the open end of a serving glass. Arrange the biscuits in the prepared skillet and place in the preheated oven to bake for about 10 minutes. Turn the biscuits and cook on the opposite side until the biscuits are golden brown. This recipe will make about 6 large biscuits.
