History of Cuban Sandwich
The Cuban sandwich was a favorite meal in Cuba and was known as just 'sandwich', as it obviously was made in Cuba and did not need to be known as Cuban! The Cubans had a traditional way of preparing it since 1500s. With the settlement of Cuban cigar manufacturers in the Key West Florida in the 1800s, the Cuban cigar industry grew leaps and bounds. The Cuban sandwich was popular among the migrant workers and somewhere along the line the Italian Genoa salami was added to the Cuban sandwiches, especially those made in the Tampa area. Then, many small cafes and bakeries came into existence in Ybor city, Key West and Cuba ,serving the traditional Cuban sandwiches. These savory sandwiches soon became a favorite and a common food to be served on the menus in Miami cafeterias and restaurants. The rest as they say, is history and the legacy still continues.

I am sure this short introduction and travel into the past would have made you eager to make Cuban sandwiches right in your home. Well, I won't keep you waiting for long and start with the best Cuban sandwich recipes.
