Looking to fire up your backyard barbecue with a new twist on bland hamburger patties? Try Brat Burgers -- a spiced-up flavorful combo of fresh bratwurst mixed with ground chuck and spiked with fiery seasonings.

"Blending seasoned pork sausage like bratwurst into ground chuck adds a whole new taste to both meats," notes Chef Mike Zeller from Johnsonvillle Sausage. "Plus when you pump up that flavor by mixing in spices and fresh veggies, the seasonings combine when grilled to create a burger like you've never tasted before."

Here's a quick and easy recipe from the Kitchens at Johnsonville for a one-of-a-kind burger that's anything but boring:

Mix one pound ground chuck with about one pound fresh bratwurst (removed from casing). Add 1/3 cup each finely chopped red onion and green bell pepper. Season with 1/2 tsp. minced garlic, 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper, 1/4 tsp. ground cumin, and 1/8 tsp. black pepper. For real kick add 1/2 tablespoon minced jalapeno peppers. Grill until cooked through and meat is no longer pink. For more fired-up recipe ideas that put boring burgers and ho-hum hot dogs to shame, visit http://www.johnsonville.com/ .
