It seems like there are always more restaurants opening here in Sukhumvit but not many of them have a clear concept of what they want to accomplish from the beginning other than to open up and serve food. One of the newest food and beverage ventures in the area is called Wolff’s and is next to the Le Fenix hotel on Soi 11 (across from what used to be the Q Bar.)
Owned by long-time Bangkok resident Malcolm Schaverien, Wolff’s concept is crystal clear — they’re a destination place that serves European food in a 50s-era looking Parisian-style club with jazz three nights a week. The interior is well-designed and the cozy feeling of the place is warm and inviting. It all combines to offer a relaxed place for people to enjoy some good food and low-key entertainment.
The food is an eclectic mix that contains real Atlantic lobster as well as a few steaks and other well-executed dishes like the Volcano Chicken pictured above right and a very tasty chicken liver pate (below). There are also specials like smoked eel, caviar and other items that appear on a semi-regular basis as this new place feels its way along.
Jerry Byrd (left) and his band provide the music, a mix of jazz standards, and their contribution, combined with the food create an atmosphere that’s great for meeting friends and hanging out any time.
